MESSAGE TO OUR MANY FRIENDS AND SUPPORTERS:
We urgently need your help to raise as much money as possible for food, shelter, vet care, first aid supplies and accessories, to help horses who are in the flood crisis.
SPRA is working in conjunction various rescue groups to co-ordinate an emergency appeal to support horses in the Queensland floods, and animals in other critical flood areas including NSW, Victoria and surrounding areas. We are focussing our fundraising efforts on those animals, and their rescuers and carers who do not have adequate support from other sources. We are raising funds to support the Queensland Horse Council, but depending on the amount of money raised, we hope to be able to extend our support to other animal rescue organisations and horses in need in as many areas as possible.

With there being a strong and vibrant horse community here in Sydney a small group has banded together to provide urgent assistance to horses in as many flood affected areas as possible. The group is headed up by Leonie Warner. Leonie has been a resident of Arcadia for many years and an active member of the horse community both through her own riding and also through her commitment to various equine clubs and associations.
We have raised $1800 through generous donations and through having donation buckets located in many of the local shops.
We are pleased that even more businesses have agreed to have our buckets so that their customers can assist in raising the much needed funds.
We are organising a raffle and have already received some fabulous prizes with still more to come. We will be commencing selling the tickets very soon.
With the launch of a new horse appeal website and Facebook, we are hopeful of raising a lot more money so we can provide the ongoing care these horses urgently need.

Were getting your donations where theyre needed as fast as possible!
We hope to have raised enough to be able to distribute donations on a fortnightly basis. We can only do this with your help. Please dig deep! We want the horses and their rescuers and carers who are working so valiantly to save them, to have the benefit of your donations as soon as possible. When distributing donations, we will be considering feedback from each of the groups we are supporting as to what they need, and when they need it. Please do all you can to help the animals, and their rescuers and carers, who have so bravely battled the floods.
Please watch this space to see how your donations are being distributed to the animals.
